We moved to the Minaloosa Valley in Plummer Idaho in 2006 with 10 Black Angus cows. We purchased 40 acres and have increased to 80 acres plus leased ground. Since then we have built quite a homestead. Including a house, hay barn, equipment barn, calving barns and planted over 250 acres with nice Orchard, Brome, Fescue mix grass hay.
Soon after moving here we started introducing the Simmental breed to our herd and have found that the Sim/Angus cross takes advantage of the best traits of both breeds including mothering instincts, milk and beef production, docile temperament and adaptability. You won’t find any high headed, fence jumpers around here. We are hands on from the time of birth to adulthood and have increased our herd to approximately 60 head. Some might say we spoil our cows but we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Our focus is to raise all natural cattle in a low stress environment with no antibiotics, vaccines, growth hormones or GMO feed. Our beef steers are born and raised here on the ranch and they graze on grass fields in the summer and are fed grass hay (grown here on our ranch) along with ground barley for that perfect marbling finish. Local barley is raised without chemicals and pesticides.
